Specialist displays of superb Art Deco furniture, sculpture and objets d’art will be a major attraction at The 59th Annual Buxton Decorative, Antiques & Art Fair at the Octagon, Buxton Pavilion Gardens, from 9th – 11th May 2025.
This prestigious and popular event brings together more than forty specialist dealers from across the country and is a major highlight in the social calendar of Buxton and the Peak District.
Says organiser Sue Ede from Cooper Fairs, ‘It is always a privilege to present the annual Buxton Antiques Fair, a major opportunity for collectors and connoisseurs to view and buy a selection of the very best art and antiques available. Now with a wide range of rare and unusual decorative pieces, the fair offers something for everyone – and all n the splendid surroundings of the Pavilion Gardens.’
Joining the fair to exhibit Art Deco will be Jeroen Markies, the specialist dealer from Sussex. Rare and important examples of Art Deco furniture will include a superb dining suite originally retailed by the famous company Heal’s of London. Another dealer specialising in Art Deco will be Hickmet Fine Arts returning with a collection of classic bronze figurines and superb glass. Among the highlights will be a large and impressive early 20 th century French gilt bronze figure of a young female dancer titled Isis, seated upon a shawl, enamel painted in an ancient Egyptian design, on a marble base. The piece is by the well-known French designer Claire Colinet (1885–1972).
Among the picture specialists, Mark Rowles Fine Art makes a solo debut with a range of 19 th and 20 th century paintings including works by such leading artists as Alfred Glendening, Cecil Kennedy, Bernard Dunstan, Edward Seago and Kyffin
Williams.
The Fair offers much more: with paintings from Haynes Fine Art, Walker Galleries, Ellis Fine Art, Jo Bennett Fine Paintings and Granta Fine Art; antique furniture from Dales Antiques, Mark Buckley Antiques, A&J Antiques and Melody Antiques, and fine English and Scottish silver from Marris Antiques and Highland Antiques.
Sculptural pieces, larger furniture and garden antiques will be on offer from King George Antiques and Skyesplace, while Richard Glass offers Old Master drawings and antiquities, Opus Antiques specialise in treen and collectables; and John Briggs
has a selection of colourful Persian rugs.
Ceramics and glass will be offered by Bottlebrook Antiques, Glass of All Ages and Solo Antiques and several jewellery specialists include Plaza, Scarab, Shapiro & Co, and T.Robert.
Chester’s Farm Gallery promise a selection of rare and unusual ceramics, glass and pictures, and Frodsham Clocks show a selection of rare mantle and bracket clocks.
