Buxton hosts the UK’s longest running art and antiques fair this spring when The Octagon at the Pavilion Gardens welcomes
The 57th Annual Buxton Decorative, Antiques & Art Fair, from 12th – 14th May 2023.

Featuring more than forty specialist fine art and antiques dealers from across the UK, the fair offers a superb range of treasures with prices from less than £50 to more than £50,000.

‘Our fair is now one of best in the country,’ says Sue Ede, fair organiser. Our exhibitors show everything from fine English furniture, jewellery, silver, ceramics, Art Nouveau and Art Deco to 20th century works of art by leading artists.’

Among the well-known regular exhibitors will be Mark Buckley Antiques and William Cook Antiques with 19th and early 20th century English furniture and accessories; fine art specialists Granta Fine Art with 20th century works; Jo Bennett with Northern and contemporary oils and watercolours; and Rowles Fine Art with fine oil and watercolour paintings from the past 200 years.

A number of decorative specialists will be exhibiting, broadening the fair’s appeal to a younger, market. They include John Wiseman Antiques, Feathered Interiors, King George Antiques, Skye’s Place and InVogue. With an enticing mix of 20th century furniture, mirrors, garden accessories, country house pieces and striking statuary, they make the Buxton Fair a new destination for interior designers and decorators.

Others include Solo Antiques specialising in Art Nouveau glass and bronzes, J. Dickinson Antiquarian Maps & Prints; Highland Antiques specialising in silver; and jewellery dealers Plaza and Shapiro & Co.

A superb range of French and European 19th and 20th century sculpture will feature from Garret & Hurst, while Richard Glass promises 18th and 19th century engravings, early carvings and collector’s pieces. Chester’s Farm Gallery promise a selection of rare and unusual ceramics, glass and pictures.

Among a superb range of contemporary fine art specialists will be ‘Art of the Imagination’ from Salisbury featuring a superb range of paintings and drawings commissioned for major new printed versions of classic books, including Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Treasure Island and, most recently, War Horse, with original illustrations by Christian Birmingham.
