Cooper Fairs are pleased to announce the acquisition of The Tatton Park Antiques Fair.
This popular event takes place four times every year at the well-known National Trust
Knutsford venue.
Cooper Fairs have acquired the fair from Robert Bailey, who
has run the fair since the mid-1980s. Cooper Fairs will organise their first Tatton Park
Antiques & Fine Art Fair from 5th – 7th March 2010.
Says Sue Ede of Cooper Fairs: ʻI am delighted to acquire the Tatton Park fair. It will
complement perfectly our programme of events in well-known high status venues. Of
course, we will be initiating a number of changes to improve various aspects of the fair,
firstly re-establishing the title ʻThe Tatton Park Antiques & Fine Art Fairʼ. These innovations
will ensure that we maximize all aspects of presentation and marketing. Above all, we look
forward to welcoming many regular and new exhibitors to this, one of the foremost antiques
fairs in the country.ʼ
The forthcoming 2010 Tatton Park fairs will benefit immediately from joining Cooper Fairsʼ
extensive network of events, where it will be strongly promoted to the many dealers and
collectors. Cooper Fairs maintain an extensive database of antique collectors who have
attended their fairs over the past 10 years, particularly visitors to The Arley Hall Antiques &
Fine Art Fair, also located in Cheshire. In 2009, Cooper Fairs acquired The Buxton Antiques
Fair, which proved highly successful and will be repeated from 13th - 16th May 2010. Cooper
Fairs also run The Snape Maltings Antiques & Fine Art Fair, The Westonbirt Antiques &
Fine Art Fair and The Powderham Castle Antiques & Fine Art Fair.

Tatton Park was named ʻCheshireʼs Large Visitor Attraction of the Yearʼ in 2004 and 2005
and is one of the North Westʼs most popular destinations. Over 750,000 visits are made
each year to Tatton Park, which has a history dating back to Bronze Age. In the late Tudor
period, Tatton was acquired by the Egerton family who owned the estate until the last Lord
Egerton died without heirs in 1958. Maurice Egerton bequeathed the estate to the National
Trust and in 1960, a lease was drawn up with Cheshire County Council who managed and
financed the property on behalf of the National Trust until April 2009 when responsibility
transferred to Cheshire East Council. It has hosted antiques fairs since the mid-1960s
under a number of organisers.
In a recent countrywide poll of areas outside London where earners were considered to
have the most disposable income, five of the top ten towns listed stood within a ʻgolden
triangleʼ in Cheshire with Tatton Park at its centre.
